St. John's Episcopal Church, Waynesboro<br />Back to FrontPage<br /><span style="color:red;background-color:#fcc;">May 2008<br />Reflections on Annual Council<br />There were several things which were notably different this year compared to years past. First, the Presiding Bishop was in attendance. She was very impressed with two things, which we do very well, our workshops and our youth events. She indicated that she was going to use us as an example for other dioceses to follow. She spoke of service and mission.<br />The presiding Bishop’s presence may have led to the other striking difference: There was no fighting or arguing over the budget. I personally feel that the Diocese’s implantation of a revised convocation system was equally responsible. I attended the U2charist workshop where we studied the music of Bono of the band U2 and how it can be incorporated into our Sunday services. Nearly 300,000 people</span> have<span style="color:red;background-color:#fcc;"> increased to at least 12,000 people, with more than 18,000 believed to be trapped in rubble. In some areas 80 percent of all buildings</span><span style="font-weight:bold;color:green;background-color:#cfc;"> been injured. St. John's Episcopal Church, Waynesboro<br />Upcoming 2008 J2A Events:<br /><span style="color:red;background-color:#fcc;">J2A will host a pancake breakfast in the social hall on March 9 and April 13, immediately after the 8:00 service (before Sunday School). The cost is $5 per person, the proceeds of which will go to the group's pilgrimage.<br />J2A will run the Parish Fair on Saturday, May 10 from 8:00 AM to 1 PM. Episcopal Relief and Development Responds to Major Earthquake in China<br />Casualties from the massive 7.9 earthquake that struck central China yesterday have increased to at least 12,000 people, with more than 18,000 believed to be trapped in rubble.
